Respectful

Therium’s approach is to build open, collaborative and long term client relationships with its partners, respecting the expertise and roles of the professionals that we work with.  Our business is based on the highest levels of integrity and trust.  Therium is a founder member and board member of the Association of Litigation Funders of England and Wales and complies with that organisation’s Code of Conduct.

Why clients turn to us

Funding the cost of legal disputes

Litigation and arbitration can be prohibitively expensive and the total cost can be uncertain at the outset.

Adverse costs of losing a claim

In many forms of litigation and arbitration, the claimant bears the risk of paying the defendant’s costs if the claim fails.

Realising the value of your claim

Financing litigation and arbitration can be a significant burden to a business’ cash flow and performance. Funding can protect the value of your business and monetise the value of your claim.

Innovative

Therium has consistently been at the forefront of market innovation, delivering funding through the full range of litigation financing products available.

Therium has been a market leader in developing techniques to fund individual litigation claims in the UK and internationally. Therium’s funding can meet some or all of the costs of pursuing the claim in return for a share of the proceeds payable if, and only if, the claim is successful.

Therium has extensive experience of funding international arbitration and can offer funding specifically tailored to the particular issues that arise in those cases.

Therium has an long track record of success in funding group litigation and class actions across a wide variety of jurisdictions, delivering favourable results to groups of clients who would be unable to access justice individually. Through its experience in this area, Therium has a deep understanding of how to meet the challenges of launching and successfully prosecuting claims brought on a collective basis.

In November 2015, Therium launched the industry’s first business focussed exclusively on financial markets disputes. Drawing on the experience and technical expertise of the AHV Associates financial markets team, Therium is able to bring to bear unrivalled insight into all forms of claims involving complex financial products for corporate, institutional and private clients.

In December 2014 Therium launched the UK’s first portfolio funding offering for law firms. Working alongside leading firms and sharing risk and reward, Therium embeds into its portfolio funding arrangements a collaborative culture and alignment of interests. This enables clients to enjoy the benefits of a more efficient and joined-up funding process.

For many years Therium has worked with law firms to monetise areas of their practice, from financing individual or portfolios of contingency fee cases to funding work in progress and bringing forward receivables.

Having been a pioneer in the use of insurance to manage financial risk in commercial disputes, Therium has delivered a variety of solutions to clients who wish to (i) de-risk their litigation, (ii) remove the drain on cash flow and profit from financing litigation, or (iii) realise value from their claim, judgment or award.
